dc.description.abstract Bacteria are frequently treated with antibiotics; however, certain strains exhibit resistance to most of the locally available antibiotics, which leads to the generation of multidrugresistant bacteria. These factors are significant contributors in the prevalence of infectious diseases. Green synthesized of nanocomposite is found to be an effective antibacterial agent because of its unique physicochemical characteristics, cost-effectiveness and ecofriendly. In this study, the green synthesized Ni–CdO nanocomposite (NCs) was examined for its antibacterial activity. With this regard, Ni–CdO NCs has prepared by the green synthesis method while the characteristics of synthesized materials have been investigated by UV–Vis, FT-IR, XRD and SEM spectroscopic techniques. Accordingly, UV–Vis spectrum indicates energy band gap of CdO NPs and Ni-CdO NCs to be 2.19 eV and 2.03 eV, respectively. FT-IR spectrum showed that the absorption peaks are emerged corresponding to Cd–O, Ni–O and O-H in Ni-CdO NCs and spherical shape of Ni-CdO investigated by SEM spectrophotometer. The XRD patterns demonstrated sharp and intensive diffraction peaks attributed to the existence of cubic CdO NPs and Ni–CdO NCs structure revealed the decreased nanocrystalline size from 39.00 nm to 34.55 nm after Ni– CdO NCs formation. The most effective antibacterial activity has been achieved by Ni-CdO NCs with zone of inhibition (ZOI) of 14.5mm, 16.6mm, 14.83mm, 18.75mm and 16.25mm against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Shigella, respectively. Thus, Ni-CdO NCs could be enumerated as an alternative nanomaterial for the effective antibiotics. en_US
