dc.description.abstract This research paper investigates the effects of staff retention strategies on employees' commitment at the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, specifically focusing on the Ambo Branch. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study combines both quantitative and qualitative data to provide a comprehensive understanding of employee perspectives and management attitudes towards retention strategies. A structured questionnaire was administered to a representative sample and the sample size of the study was 90, complemented by interviews and document analysis, to gather rich data on employee retention practices and their impact on performance. The research follows an explanatory cross-sectional design, aiming to establish causal relationships between employee retention strategies and employee performance. Employee commitment was positively and significantly impacted by working environment, as shown by their t-values, Beta = .655, t-value = 3.684 and P value = 0.000. Employee commitment is positively affected by training, with studies showing that effective training can enhance loyalty and performance. It was found that the Working environment and Training had a greater impact on employees' commitment. Researcher recommended that there is need to improve Career Development Opportunities, increase employee participation, and focus on work life balance, regular feedback mechanisms and tailored retention strategies. en_US
