dc.description.abstract Stakeholder engagement is an aspect of stakeholder management focusing on achieving meaningful stakeholder participation through effective communication, definition and engagement processes and strategizing the needs of stakeholders in the decision-making process to achieve organizational objectives. According to Hamidu et al. (2014), that stakeholder management helps to identify stakeholders based on their power to influence and the urgency of claims and the legitimacy of their relationship with the organization. The main Objective of this study was “to assess roles of stakeholder engagement in sustainable development in Ambo Administration office. The study conducted 154 employees randomly selected from six sectors. An explanatory research design was adopted to carry out this study. Both quantitative and qualitative approaches were concurrently used in order to assess the roles of stakeholder engagement in sustainable development in Ambo Administration office. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statics like percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation and 21 SPSS soft ware. From the finding of the study majority of the respondents with great, mean of 4.4 awarded about the roles of stakeholder engagement in sustainable development. The overall perception of stakeholder engagement, the mean of the mean score was further calculated and resulted with a rating of 4.2 mean score which shows that majority of the respondents have positive perception on the stakeholder engagement in sustainable development. Communication gaps, poor engagement of stakeholder, gaps in knowledge about specific issue and conflicting requirements of stakeholder were challenges of stakeholder engagement in the study area. According to the survey result from 122 respondents, 87respondents (71.3%) strongly agreed and the great mean (4.6) in (Table 8), shows that poor engagement of the stakeholder were the first rank and the most challenges of the stake engagement in the sustainable development of the study area. Conflicting requirements of the stakeholders was the second challenge of stakeholder with great mean in the study area. Finally, the recommended solutions, is Ambo Administration office should have invite the Owners who know the local language of the society for the projects takes place in the study area for the sustainable development. en_US
