In Ethiopia since 1994, to address the leadership problems that had existed in the country for many years,
significant policy changes have been introduced. Leadership is vital for any success in life of individual
as well as teams in the organizations across different levels of organizations. Most organizational
theorists also agree that transformational leadership’s effective leadership style and the most important
contributors to overall organizational performance success. The problems reflected from Ambo TVET
colleges were, Transformational leadership on work performance was very low, and most of the times
employees needs does not get any response for decades. The main Objective of this study was “to assess
effects of Transformational Leadership on Organizational Commitment” in Ambo TVET College. The
study conducted 146 employees from these 13 leaders randomly selected from managements of the
college. An explanatory research design was adopted to carry out this study. Both quantitative and
qualitative approaches were concurrently used in order to assess the effects of transformational
leadership on organizational commitment in Ambo TVET College. The collected data were analyzed by
descriptive statics like percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation and correlation model by using
SPSS version 21 statical software. The key findings revealed the majority of the respondents 104(71%)
said that the level of Transformational Leadership was low in Ambo TVET College. Transformational
leadership has a significant effect on organizational Commitment in Ambo TVET College, since its pvalue
was 0.000which is less than significant level of 0.05 and strong positive correlation (r-value) of
0.436. Besides, to this Transformational leadership has a significant effect on work performance with
weakly correlated by(r-value) 0.288 . Linear regression analysis the EX (B) 0.688 implies that
appreciate for employers work increases the organizational effectiveness by the factor of 0.688,
which mean that if there is Transformational leadership the effectiveness of the organization will
be increased by the Beta 0.688.Finally, the recommended solutions, is to develop transformational
leaders that can initiate system based thinking in order to realize the vision of the college |
