The purpose of this study is to assess human resource development practice and its effect on employees’ performance in National Bank of Ethiopia. The study used explanatory design and describtive to examine the study. The study aims to examine the effect of human resource development practices, such as employee training, employee education, employee empowerment, employee promotion, and performance appraisal, and their effect on employee performance. The study is a mixed research which is a blend of both qualitative and quantitative methods. The population under investigation comprises 1000 members who are employees of the NBE. From this population, a sample of 286 individuals was selected using Taro Yamane's formula, with a 5% error tolerance and 95% level of confidence. Instruments used for data collection were a self-administered questionnaires and interview. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, and multiple regressions. The findings indicated that employee training, employee empowerment, employee promotion, and employee education has a significant and positive effect on employee performance. While performance appraisal has insignificant impact on employee performance. It was concluded that HRD practices can help to achieve the optimal level of employee performance the study recommended that suitable HRD practice that allow workers to perform better should be in place |
