Contribution Of Oromia Development Association In Social Development: The Case Of Addis Ababa And Selected Finfinne Special Zone Of Oromia

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate contribution of Oromia Development Association in social development. This study was surveyand descriptive nature. The study employed non probability sampling such as purposive and convenient method was used. The sample size was determined using Cochran formulae, and the respondent was purposively selected from population using convenient place. Accordingly, 420 respondents were targeted, both male and female were equally participated in data collection, and hundred percent response rateswerecollected. The primary data were collected through open and close ended questioners, interview guide, and personal observation.This study investigated major contribution of Oromia development association that address livelihood support, health sector, education sector, water, sanitation and hygiene, local economy development, cultural development, peace and relationship building, democracy development, and creating awareness and building infrastructure. Hence the study identified the contributions such as they provide livelihood support for society by providing carbohydrate rich flour, edible oil and advanced hen. In education sector: constructed school, extension block, library, computer and laboratory room, and toilet. Also donate computer, book, and education material; further provide student sponsorship in boarding school which used to advance education. In health sector they constructed health institute, extension block, toilet laboratory room, and donate ambulance for health institutions. Also create awareness mainly on adultery issues and sexually transmitted disease such as HIV and coronal virus. Also they worked to improve clean water supply by constructing water bono, and well spring; sanitation and hygiene provide soap and plastic garbage for society. This study identified Oromia development association further contributed to improve social wellbeing through establishing Green Park, constructing rural road, constructing cultural center and meeting hall. Further they have promoted scarce resource using management, local economy development, cultural development, democracy development, environmental health care, gender equality and equity through creating awareness. Further, the established project quality and the contribution results in individual beneficiary were assessed.Accordingly, the both respondent and researcher evaluated the quality of the project have very good quality,convenient location and the services were stable.The study also assessed the extent of government stockholders and donor’sparticipation in program preparation, implementation and monitoring.In this regard the study identified as the organization has good relationship, and the actors participate in project programing and monitoring
