Abstract:
This study aimed at examining the effect of strategic planning on crisis management in the case of Ethio telecom Holeta, Ejere, Burayu and Inchini branches. The specific objective of this study was to examine the
effect of mission, vision, SWOT analysis, strategies and objective on crisis management at Ethio-telecom. The
study used both explanatory research and descriptive research designs. This study used qualitative and
quantitative approaches. The target of the study was managers and employees who are rich information
regarding strategic planning and crisis management Convenience sampling technique was used to select 104
respondents. The data gathered was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with the help of SPSS.
The result showed that there is significantly positive relation between vision and strategies, crisis management
while other variables have insignificant relationship. This indicates that the company considers the application
of vision and strategy as important strategic planning components in crisis management. Based on the findings
it was recommended that Ethio-telecom should be reviewed with the building managerial capability and man
power, including its values, beliefs, what it does and what distinguishes it, preparing the message in a balanced
manner, building reputable brand, Providing high quality, and innovative and affordable telecom products and
service. Ethio-telecom should revise its vision to be more effective in strategic planning. In terms of Objective
Ethio telecom objective should be revised with providing reliable network and improving customer services.
Concerning SWOT analysis Ethio telecom environmental scanning should look lover through with analyzing
the internal and external environment ensuring changes whether increasing or decreasing and using new
technologies and also the Management focuses on adapting each strategic option has great effect on the
process of strategic planning in Ethio telecom. Strategy of the organization, the company sets appropriate
strategic alternatives and applies clear criteria and indicators to judge the implementation of its plans, the
