Abstract:
Organizational conflict arises when and if an employee thinks that their goals are under threat
or is being hindered by another person’s activities. The poor handling of conflicts may lead to an exit
of some employees from the organization. The objective of the study was to assess how conflict
management strategies influence the performance of the Holeta city administration office. The study
employed a descriptive survey research design. The study targeted 159 employees of Holeta city
administration office. A census method was adopted by the study. Questionnaires were used as the
research instrument. The questionnaires were administered using the method of drop and pick later.
The gathered data information was coded and then analyzed by use of SPSS. In summary, correlation
and the regression model showed: a significant positive relationship between the accommodating
strategy and the performance of Holeta city administration office (0.592**). with regression coefficient
value of 0.330 and significance value of 0.003; A significant positive correlation between dominating
strategy and the performance of the Holeta city administration office (0.495**); A significant positive
correlation between the compromise strategy and performance of Holeta city administration office
(0.570**), and; a significant positive correlation between collaborating strategy and performance of
Holeta city administration office(0.656**) with regression coefficient of 0.456with a significance value
of 0.000.Regression model result shown that both accommodating strategy and collaborating strategy
are statistically significant with Holeta city administration office performance. The study
recommended that: Managers should always use accommodating and collaborating strategies in
order to solve organizational conflict.
