Abstract:
Motivation is one of the most critical elements in the area of Human Resources Management. Companies design motivation systems not only to encourage employees to perform their best in the most efficient way, but also to attract future candidates to apply for specific posts. Therefore, the study was intended to examine factors affecting employees’ motivation AmboEthiotelecom, Oromia Regional National State, Ethiopia. A questionnaire survey was conducted by selecting 109 from Ambo Ethiotelecom Western Region through purposive sampling technique and two key informants were purposively selected from the company. To address the objectives of the study, a descriptive research design was employed along with qualitative and quantitative research approaches. A five points Likert scale type measurement format was applied. Moreover, interview, and document review were used for data collection to triangulate with data obtained through questionnaire survey. Data were presented using tables and figures and analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviations) and inferential statistics (correlation and ANOVA). To process the data, Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software 20 version was used. The results of the study indicated that employees working in Ambo ethiotelecom dissatisfied due to financial, carrier growth and development related, Co- workers and supervisor relation, recognition, work condition and job security related factors.Also the researcher used an inferential statistics (correlation and ANOVA) analyses to measure the effect of independent variables on the dependent variable. From this, the Pearson correlation test conducted between financial and nonfinancial factors to the dependent variable of employee performance they are strong correlation respectively. The ANOVA test result also confirmed that, the prediction power of motivation is found to be statistically significant. Therefore, the researcher concludes that financial and non-financial factors have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Thus, study would like to suggest that Ambo Ethiotelecomshould focus on employees motivational factors in order to increase its performance
