dc.description.abstract Coronavirus is an international issue that influences the major and fundamental components of sustainable development, socio-economic development. Socio-economic shocks caused by COVID – 19 crises are already tangible in the world. The study affirms the devastating effects of COVID-19 pandemic on socio-economic development including income, job, education, health service, restricts social relationship. The study investigates the effects of COVID 19 pandemic on socio-economic development of Holeta town Households. Among the different types of mixed method design concurrent design was employed for this study in which both qualitative and quantitative data were collected separately but approximately analyzed at the same time. The appropriate Data has been collected and analyzed from 366 respondents by convenient scientifically accepted analysis tool called SPSS software. Data analyses were made separately and interpretations were accomplished for each set of data. Consequently, data on specific objectives has been collected through administered questionnaire to achieve the study objectives. Additionally, qualitative data were collected from individuals by face to-face and analyzed with quantitative one. Thus, mixed approach method was employed to conduct this research. This research study identified that the awareness of respondents about COVID19 were somewhat good; but 35% of them didn’t knew the clinical symptom of COVID-19 and 90.3% were in the worst condition while they hear as COVID19 appeared in Ethiopia. It also identified that effects of COVID19 were both positive and negative significant in which as the predicted variable increased by one-unit, socio-economic development increased or decreased by coefficient of estimate of predicted variable. Additionally, the finding show that mitigation strategy of COVID19 were not effective because of Holeta town households didn’t implement the standards declared by Ethiopian Ministry of Health Institute. In general, directly or indirectly the prevalence of COVID 19 has significant effect on socio-economic development. So that every person, group, organizations and other concerned body must give proper attention to prevent its transmission and minimize its effect as much as possible en_US
