Abstract:
The study was conducted to examine the effect of human resource management practices on organization performance in the case of public organization of Nono District. To achieve the study objectives, the researcher developed, distributed questionnaires, collected and analyzed the data with SPSS tool by using descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. The study used both primary and secondary data sources. Cross sectional survey was employed taking a sample of 136 respondents selected from the population of 207 by using simple random techniques; 121 questionnaires was collected back; the response rate was 88.9%.
Data were analyzed and interpreted using descriptive and inferential statistics. The finding of the study indicated that there were practices of human resource management such as recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal, Promotion and reward system that affects organizational performance in the public sectors of the district. It also shows that there is a positive relationship between recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal, Promotion and reward system and organizational performance. Generally based on the findings its recommended that: Public organizations of the district should struggle to implement human resource strategy that challenges the practice, adoptive equal opportunity and encourages innovation and creative employees, if organizations need to compete and perform better. Management of Nono district should ensure that recruitment and selection is done in transparent and fair manner
