Abstract:
Strategy management set direction for the organization and its employee. Effective
strategic management continuously plans, monitors and tests an organization's activities,
resulting in greater operational efficiency, market share and profitability. The aim of this
thesis is to conduct the assessment of strategic management practice and challenges in
Ambo farmers’ cooperative union plc .This Descriptive study utilized qualitative majorly
and quantitative data on some parts of demographic background: The study addressed
research questions of whether or not Ambo farmers’ cooperative union practice well structured strategic management practices in their business, know-how Ambo farmers’
cooperative union develop strategic management process and practice & what are the
major gaps &challenges to strategic management practices to ambo farmers’
cooperative union. So descriptive research design was selected to answers these
question.
Conceptual, theoretical and empirical back ground and gaps of research problems
assessed in literature review. Descriptive research methodology was selected. Research
samples cover all population (93) employees of the company. Mixed research approach
employed in data collections. Both primary and secondary data was collected for the
purpose of this research. Data collection method followed Questionnaires, interviews and
physical observation of the available documents in the company. The collected data
careful administered and passed through all necessary process using appropriate
statically method during interpretation. The reliability test conducted to check the
consistency and dependability of the instrument showed, Cronbach Alpha of 0.760.The
four stages of strategy management and challenges of strategy management practices
were diagnosed and the strategy evaluation and control resulted lower mean score of
2.931 and SD of 0.338 which is major improvement areas of the process. The researcher
highly recommends Ambo Farmer cooperative union to invest on full packages of
strategic management practices in meaningful ways. Major challenges of SMP of AFCU
were internal factors that might be avoided or reduce in strategic training initiatives.
