dc.description.abstract As a new paradigm of public administration, New Public Management (NPM) points to the failures and inadequacies of public sector performance over time and the problems lying squarely in the nature and processes of public sector activity and traditional public administration. It has been developed as a handy shorthand and summary description of the way of reorganizing public sector bodies to bring their management approaches closer to business methods. Size of the government, centralized bureaucracies, inadequate mechanisms of accountability, waste and inefficiency in resource use etc are all problems which the new public management sought to address in practice. However, there are few criticisms of the doctrines of NPM from the political perspective and few of the developing countries have become successful in public sector reform. The Research aims to identify the Major challenges of Addis Ababa Main Bus station Client and assess the Practice of New Public Management. The Study used descriptive Research Design. To address issues both Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods were employed in this study. Accordingly, out of 2500 estimated Target Population of Bus Clients on a day, 374 Samples participants were selected with Convenient Non probability sampling method. Data were collected through Questionnaire, Interview and Observation both from Primary and Secondary sources. The collected data were Analysed, Summarized and Presented by using different Statistical tools such as Descriptive statistics and Inferential Analytical Techniques. To analyse the data obtained, SPSS version 21 was used. The collected Data were processed using The Study revealed aspects of the NPM mainly (Assurance, Responsiveness, Reliability, accountability, Decentralization,efficiency and effectivenes , also the Finding indicate that there is still the need for more effort to improve the Quality of Bus station (one of Public Service Provision area). It can also provide insight to the Bus Enterprises to understand the key factors that affecting the Quality and Design of Bus station and asses its efficient application of New Public Management Mode of application at A A m a i n Bus station existed at Autobestera. The Study contributes and recommends for the Digitalized improvement of Bus station Design to be conducive which helpsto apply NPM principles and components to these public sectors to make it like private styele of management, to add value and reduce cost practically in area in which study is conducted. en_US
