Abstract:
The main purpose of this study is to investigate self-determination level and challenging factors
for visually impaired students at Bako Primary School for the Blind. A concurrent triangulation
design of mixed research methods was used. Purposive and comprehensive (available) sampling
techniques were employed. Data were gathered through questionnaires and structured
interviews from 44 participants, including 37 students, 6 teachers, and 1 director. The gathered
data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the result was organized according to basic
research questions. According to the study's findings, students with visual impairment were
undertaking self-determining activities and had a high level of self-determination. And there
were self-determination differences based on gender, educational level, visual status, and age
among students with visual impairment in Bako Primary School for the Blind. Regardless of this
outcome, students with visual impairments in school face challenges such as a lack of specialized
teachers, a lack of braille books and computers, a lack of sports fields, a lack of self-confidence
and commitment to express their feelings, and a lack of opportunities. It has been suggested that
