The Role Of Trade Union (Employee Benefit, Industrial Democracy, Working Condition, And Collective Bargaining) In Effective Industrial Relation: A Case Of Ethiopian Airlines

Abstract

The major goal of this research was to study "The Role of Trade Union in Effective Industrial Relation: The Case of Ethiopian Airlines" in associated with employee benefits, industrial democracy, working conditions, and collective bargaining. The study was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics, using qualitative and quantitative data obtained as primary and secondary data sources. The secondary data came from a variety of papers, books, and internet sources, as well as the organization manual, while the primary data came from a questionnaire and an interview. The questionnaires were issued to Ethiopian Airlines Group employees, and interviews with the Trade Union executive and HR personnel were performed to obtain the management's perspective and to make the data more comprehensive. Using descriptive and inferential statistics, the acquired data was summarized and analysed. To rate the effect of the actors in question, the questionnaire used a five-point Likert scale. SPSS version 26.0 data analysis software was used to analyse the research using descriptive research, correlation, and regression analysis. The findings revealed that all aspects, including employee benefits, industrial democracy, working conditions, and collective bargaining, have influence on effective industrial relationship. The issues regarding to industrial democracy are low, employee working conditions and collective bargaining efforts are insufficient. As a result, the Trade Union should take these issues seriously in order to uphold effective industrial relation.
