Abstract:
The study was done with the main purpose of exploring factors affecting resource mobilization in
civil society organizations particularly in selective Consortium of Christian Relief and
Development Associations. The study employed a mixed-methods approach. For the quantitative
part, a simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample of 25 sample respondents
from the total population of 250 listed in member list database .Closed-ended questionnaire was
used to collect the quantitative data from respondents. The qualitative study employed focus
group discussion and in-depth interviews. In light of this, secondary data collected from different
documents with data collected through a questionnaire administered an interview conducted was
used to make the paper sound. Interviews were conducted with employees of 10 civil society
organizations working with the Consortium of Christian Relief and Development Associations. A
thematic analysis was used to extract three major themes: (1) Factors affecting financial
resource mobilization of Civil Society Organization particularly members of Consortium of
Christian Relief and Development Associations member organizations (2) The way how
Consortium of Christian Relief and Development Associations member organizations utilize their
financial resource 3) The potential source of resources and their way of resource mobilization
activities of local Civil Society Organization. The finding can inform financial experts,
researchers, policymakers, and program developers in facilitating strategies to mitigate these
financial resource mobilization problems and maximize the opportunities; Diversification of
Income Sources and strengthen financial feasibility, Capacity Strengthen is essential, Structures
must create for Organizational governance /board of directors/and have to be actively engaged
in resource mobilization and utilization, create a regular dialogue between donors and civil
society actors and donors transparency in funding criteria of their organization, make their
selection criteria clear for implementation partners.
