Abstract:
Job satisfaction has always concern of an employee and employer. Therefore, investigating its determinants is of value
for both. Quantitative survey was employed to identify determinants of job satisfaction in this study which was used to
address an important issue among ambo polytechnic college. Questionnaires were administered and collected fromlist
of 90 focal persons in Ambo polytechnic college. A total of 90 responses were received. Data has been analyzed using
SPSS. Results demonstrated that there is a positive impact of independent variables() on the dependent variable among
the subject population. The result of the study shows that there a significant relationship between independent
variables, salary & benefit, promotion, work environment and relation among supervisors and job satisfaction of
employees of Ambo polytechnic College. All the above factors highly influence job satisfaction of employees.
Employees are not satisfied on salary and other benefits in addition to work environment. Generally this study shows
that most of the employees are not satisfied with their job. Based on this it is recommended that, the Ambo polytechnic
College should work more on the above factors especially in salary and benefit and work environment by considering
the other competitive salary scale. This helps increase to job satisfaction and to achieve its strategies and goals
through productive work force .It also helps to minimize employee’s turnover. The findings can be generalized to other
settings keeping all other things constant and working staff is a highly honorable career and always boons to their
societies where they are working. However, the extant literature shows that job satisfaction is under un area in terms of
organizational and personal determinants particularly in Ambo polytechnic college. So, the recent survey can
contribute to addressing that gap.
