dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study is to assess the challenges and opportunities of condominium housing development project in Ambo town, West showa zone, Oromia Regional state, Ethiopia. A descriptive research design, which involved quantitative and qualitative research approach, was employed. The study was based on primary data collected from 179 condominium beneficiaries or residents selected by simple random sampling. Additional information was also obtained from key informant interview. The collected data were analyzed by IBM SPSS Version 23 statistical software program. A descriptive statistics like frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were used to summarize the data collected on the challenges and opportunities of condominium housing development project. The result indicated that existing status of condominium housing development project in the Ambo town was low. The existing status of condominium housing development project in the Ambo town didn’t fits quality standard. The findings also indicated that the major challenges of condominium were quality flaws of deterioration canals within the compound, threshing coffee on the floor of the building, rent condominium to someone else,, incapacity by contractors and consultants, weak quality control and construction administration capacity. The measures taken by authorities to address the existing problems were not adequate. There was lack of government’s commitment to address the issues, making integration and collaboration with the concerned bodies and among the residents. The opportunities of condominium housing project in Ambo town were increase job opportunity to youth and women, enhance social solidarity among the neighbors, the condominium construction program create domestic contractor and consultants and the condominium house made the city modern and suitable to dwells. From this, it was concluded that condominium housing development was not satisfactory. It is recommended that fostering supervision, capacity building, enhance quality control and work jointly to alleviate the aforementioned plays a significant role in improving condominium housing. en_US
