Abstract:
The study examined the role of recruitment, selection and promotion practices on
organizational performance in commercial bank of Ethiopia, west Addis Ababa
district, Burayu town. As a sample, 174 employees of the bank were considered. The
primary data was collected by questionnaire and interview methods; while the
secondary source of data was collected from the existing published and unpublished
materials via document review. The collected data was presented by using tables and
charts. Moreover, descriptive methods were employed to analyze the quantitative
data. The result indicated that although recruitment, selection and promotion of
employees to a greater extent determines the performance of an institution and
it is of great importance if organizations want to achieve their goals. For
commercial bank of Ethiopia, attracting the right candidate, engaging qualified
candidates, hiring fast, building a strong employer brand and ensuring a good
candidate experience were becoming major challenges. Therefore, The study
suggested that the banks under study should revise their recruitment, selection and
promotion policies to stay in the market and to reduce the likelihood of losing
qualified and well experienced employees.
