“Knowledge And Attitude Towards Cervical Cancer Screening And Associated Factors Among Married Men’s in Wolgewo Lege Bari Woreda, Sheger City, Oromia, Ethiopia, 2025”

Abstract

Background: - Men have a critical role to play in reducing cervical cancer burden. Yet, men’s knowledge, attitudes and associated factors about cervical cancer screening have been understudied, particularly in developing countries like Ethiopia. Lack of knowledge and poor attitude of male about cervical cancer disease can affect screening practice and development of preventive behavior. Objective: -To assess knowledge and attitude towards cervical cancer screening and associated factors among married men’s in Wolgewo Lege Bari Woreda, Sheger city Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia 2025. Method: -A community based cross sectional study design was conducted on 416 randomly selected married men who live in Wolgewo legebari Woreda from January 22-29, 2025. Study subjects were selected by systematic random sampling technique. The data were collected by a structured and pretested, face-to-face interviewer- administered questionnaire. Bi-variable logistic regression analysis was done all variables with p-value less 0.25. In multi variable logistic regression adjust odd ratio was estimated at 95% CI and P-value <0.05 was used to determine the association between the dependent and independent variables. Results: -A total of 416 currently married male were included in a study with a response rate of 98.6%. The mean age of the respondents was 32.75(±8.09SD) years. 261 (62.7%) of the study participants knew about cervical cancer screening. 192(46.2%) had positive attitude while 224(53.8) had negative attitude toward cervical cancer screening.Married men who were unable to read and write were about 85% less likely to know cervical cancer screening [AOR= 0.15, 95% CI: 0.03-0.85)] when compared with married men who educated College and above. Those married men whose age 25-34 years were 60% less likely to have positive attitude toward cervical cancer screening than those married men whose age >=45 years. Conclusion: -The stuy participantis had slightily poor knowledge and attitude about cervical cancer screening. Comprehensive strategies are needed to increase married men knowledge and attitude about cervical cancer screening by integrating sexual and reproductive health.
