“Determinants of Entrepreneurial Willingness: Case of Early Employments in Private Banks of Ethiopia’’

Abstract

Entrepreneurship has evolved to the extent where it is now more than just a career, but also a desirable employment option for the majority of people today. As a result, it is critical to identify potential entrepreneurs and ways to encourage people to engage in entrepreneurship. So, the purpose of this study was to examine the factors that influence entrepreneurial willingness in the case of early employment in private banks of Ethiopia. The study used both descriptive and econometric models and 154 employees were chosen using a two-stage simple random sampling technique. The logistic regression results show that several factors, including being male as compared to female, willingness to take a risk, time to do another job, and entrepreneurial education and training, increase the likelihood of achieving higher entrepreneurial willingness in early employment. However, having a positive attitude toward private business and coming from a business-oriented family has a significant and negative impact on the entrepreneurial willingness of early employees. Expectations of credit availability, urban residency, and individual income have no significant effect on the entrepreneurial willingness of early employees. As a result, it is suggested that efforts be directed toward transforming this willingness into a viable business startup. In this case, the assistance and access to resources provided by various government and nongovernmental organizations might be beneficial.
