Relationship Between Teachers’ Performance Appraisa Results And Job-Satisfaction Of Teachers In Primary Schools Of Ilu Gelan Woreda

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between performance appraisal result and their job-satisfaction in primary schools Ilu Gelan Woreda. The objective of the study was to describe the level of performance appraisal result in their job-satisfaction along with possible linkage that may exist between aforementioned variables. To achieve the objectives of study, the study employed descriptive survey and correlation research design. In the study quantitative and qualitative method was used .The data were collected from purposive sampling selected 207 (teachers) and 4 principals respondents from the selected four government primary schools.The sampling techniques used in the study were sampling techniques. Both close ended and open ended questionnaire, interview and secondary data were used for data collection. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive (mean and SD and inferential statistics (correlation).The findings regarding the extent to which Teachers Performance appraisal and their job-satisfaction by answering four basic questions which were prepared to check the relationship between Teachers Performance appraisal and their job-satisfaction of teachers Ilu Gelan primary schools, the study revealed that there was weak positive relationship between teachers’ performance appraisal and teaching staff satisfaction since when the appraisal results gets better the interest of teachers to stay in their current schools increase and to the contrary when the performance appraisal results gets worse the dissatisfaction of teachers to leave their current schools increase. Based on the analysis of the data, the following conclusions were made: the challenges of relationship between teachers performance appraisal and their job satisfaction are: shortage of educational inputs (skill and attitude of principals’, inadequate laboratory, insufficient of reference books, and insufficient budget), lack of parental support in their job satisfaction and greater than 22period in one week. It was recommended that it is better to improve causes of teacher’s performance appraisal and their job satisfaction problems in the study area
