Abstract:
This study is carried out on challenges and prospects of bank credit facilities in promoting
private investment in Development Bank of Ethiopia under West Addis Ababa District. The study
adopted descriptive research design. The study was based on primary data that were collected
through questionnaires. The questionnaire was prepared in the form of likert scale. The census
methods were used to obtain 53 respondents from DBE. A statistical package for social science
(SPSS) Version 25 was used for process and different statistical tools were used to analyze data.
Based on the findings, the study recommends that, there is constraints faced in assessing credit
facility from DBE for private investments and need of reinforcing bank credit facility for private
investments of government regulation and focuses of policies and rules of bank. It is also
recommended that the bank should give prior attention to credit policies to support private
investors to invest in different activities for ever sector thy have in needed and the management
has to give due emphasis for project rehabilitation department, competence of credit facility
department team and credit approval for bank credit facility in promoting private investments by
reviewing with credit policy and regulations.
