Abstract:
The study conducted on the effect of teamwork on the banking performance of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia branches located in Ambo Town. The objectives of the study were to assess the effectiveness of leadership and teamwork size, to evaluate the effect of teamwork development, to analyze the effects of team composition on banking performance and determine the extent to which established teamwork norms affect banking performance of the study area. The study employed both descriptive and explanatory research designs with Quantitative and qualitative research approaches rather than using a single one. The study applied multiple linear regression models within the independent variables including Leadership effectiveness, teamwork-size, teamwork-development, teamwork-composition and norms. Primary data were collected from 136 respondents of five branches of commercial bank of Ethiopia branches in Ambo Town and a district office in through questionnaires and interviews. The findings of the study indicated that leadership effectiveness, teamwork size and team composition have positive effects on banking performance while overly rigid teamwork norms negatively effects. The study recommended that Commercial Bank of Ethiopia have to take corrective measures to enhance gender diversity, invest in leadership development, promote flexible teamwork norms, optimize team structures, and implement continuous feedback mechanisms to improve overall banking performance
