Factors Affecting The Performance Of Long Distance Runner Athletes: In The Case Of Nifas Silk Lafto Sub City Athletics Club Of Addis Ababa City Administration

Abstract

Athletics is an exclusive collection of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing and walking; the most common types of athletics competition are track and field, road running, cross country running and race walking. The purpose of the study was to investigate factors affecting the performance of Nifas Silki Lafto sub city athletics training project in Addis Ababa administrative office. The current study takes place from February to March , 2024 through structured questionnaire. Data collected through questionnaire interview and observation Checklist. A total of 16 respondents 10 of them are male while 6 are females participated as the source of data. The design of the study was quantitative and the descriptive survey method was used. The data collected were organized, analyzed, tabulated and interpreted using simple percentage. As for as major findings of the study are concerned, significant majority of the respondents stated their view that, there is a problem of social relationship between athlete and coach, Nutritional factors, Environmental factors and psychological factors. study revealed that the coach have enough information about food intake after training and most of the athlete have knowledge what kind of food would be taken according to exercise as w ell as coach do not plan training time depending upon weather condition, thus it cause negative effect in performance. The finding indicates that joining one team without performance affects the training negatively, Therefore cornering body should play crucial role in the adjusting the problem raised from respondent in this study, in addition Coach should be pay attention to weather condition during planning training
