The objective of the study was to assess factors that affect membership growth in saving and credit cooperative ambo town. Descriptive and explanatory method of research design, as well as mixed type of research approach and multistage sample method was employ. The researcher used both primary and secondary data sources. 142 survey responses collected from saving and credit cooperatives in the study area. In addition to this, with whom face to face interview, key informant interview and focus group discussion with triangulations primary data used to strengthen the information that have been collected. The data have been analyzed through, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics as well as multiple linear regression and correlation have used to draw important information. The finding problems of research indicate that saving and credit cooperatives have member’s growth in providing fairness measure share of profit to members for their saving and credit. Besides, get income, participation to cooperative, total number share, financial resources, distance from member residence, perception of members, training, extension service, management capability, members status, position and weak linkage among and other cooperative are majority problem that influence members’ participation in saving and credit cooperatives. The multiple regression analysis showed that socio-cultural factor, economics and institution factors might be significant. Therefore, get income, participation to cooperative, number share, financial resources, training, extension service, management capability, membership status and position of these involvements will increase the saving and credit cooperative. The Cooperative Ambo town should collaboratively work with the nearby research centers to reduce the problem of cold by introducing a frost-resistant variety. And also government support, willingness of members to joint saving and credit cooperatives |
