dc.description.abstract Background; Road traffic accident is among the leading causes of death and injury entire worldwide, accounting for 50 million injuries and 1.2million fatality annually. Ethiopia has the greatest prevalence of traffic accidents because road transport is the major transportation system in the country. However, by providing more information about specific factors related to road traffic accident, it can be possible to reduce the number of injuries and accident outcomes. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the magnitude and factors associated with road traffic accident among traumatized patients at trauma hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 2024. Methods: Institutional based cross-sectional study design was conducted among 421 trauma patients selected by systematic random sampling technique at selected hospital from August, 2023 to, June 2024. Data was collected using structured administered interviews and descriptive and logistic regression analyses were done using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Adjusted Odds Ratio (AOR) with 95% CI was used to measure strength of association and variables with p < 0.05 were considered as statistically significant. Results were presented using texts, tables and graph. Results: finding of this study showed, overall magnitude of road traffic accident was 43.8%. Whereas, variables associated with magnitude of road traffic accident were; the victim age group 30- 49 (P-0.00, AOR= 0.150, 95% CI (0.080, 0.282), Night time (P-0.002, AOR=0.415, 95% CI (0.244, 0.717) and educational status p-0.003, AOR=0.286, 95% CI 0.124, 0.661). Conclusion and Recommendations The current finding of magnitude road traffic accident was 43.8%. Age, educational status and night time driving accident were factors associated with road traffic accident. It is better to design and implement appropriate prevention strategies on road traffic accidents, Outlaw night time operation of public transportation and set up significant controls. en_US
