dc.description.abstract Internal displacement refers to the forced movement of people within the borders of the country they live in, and it affects many millions of people each year in the world. Millions more have been forced from their homes by development projects and slow-onset phenomena such as drought, climate change impacts and environmental degradation. Additionally, the defining guiding principles of internal displacement mention the main causes of internal displacement; include armed conflict, violence, violations of human rights and disasters. Particularly in Ethiopia in recent time due to climate change and conflict large population displaced from their original residence. The problem is highly complex to analyze because it is political related thing and sensitive in the current time. Therefore, the study was tried to assess the impact of internal displacement on socio-economic condition of society who are settled in Nekemte town surroundings. In order to achieve the study 96 respondents were selected through simple random sample and to get data questionnaires, interview and focus group discussion were employed. Additionally, to analyze the data descriptive and inferential statistics called logistic regression as well as tried to apply treatment effect (Propensity score matching) was used by using stata version 14. So those conflict, drought and investment purposes are some of the causes of internal displacement. Lack of getting healthy services, epidemic disease, loss the probability toregister in school for child, raise of crime rate, loss job opportunity, and homelessness were the main impacts of internal displacement in the study area. The study recommended that government should enhance solidarity among the society; delivery infrastructure and credit services to recover from the problem and develop plan to return the displaced societies to their own original place and try to solve any political problem through peace between political parties. en_US
