dc.description.abstract |
This study was conducted to investigate the link between principals’ transformational leadership styles and Teachers’ job satisfaction in Addis Ababa boarding secondary schools. In order to investigate the link between principal transformational leadership styles and teachers’ job satisfaction, co relational research design was employed. The study used quantitative data. This study used 148 participants randomly selected using lottery method from 230 teachers teaching at boarding secondary schools of Addis Ababa. Data was collected by use of structured questionnaires administered to the teachers. The data obtained through questionnaire, which were liable to quantitative analysis were coded and entered into SPSS version 20.0 and analyzed using simple descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation) and Pearson’s correlation analysis using SPSS version 20.0 The study found that job satisfaction was positively correlated with the dimensions of transformational leadership style.Transformational leadership style most frequently used by school principals. The finding of this study indicated that there was a significant relationship between transformational leadership style and teachers job satisfaction. To foster greater job satisfaction, school principals should focus on idealized influence and individualized consideration than inspirational motivation and intellectual stimulation of the transformational leadership behaviors. The result of the present study proposes the significance of transformational leadership style that ought to be advanced through the school's strategies and representative assessments. The main recommendations of this study includes: the school principals should work hard in conducting a continuous assessment of teachers job satisfaction surveys and take corrective action to improve and bring the success of their teachers in their expertise. The regression analysis showed that transformational leadership (Inspirational motivation and Individualized consideration) were significant positive predictors of job satisfaction. There is need therefore for regular leadership and management training by head teachers to improve job satisfaction among teacher employees. |
