Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to investigate determinants of Determinants of women entrepreneurs’ business performance: the case of micro and small scale enterprises in Bishoftu Town. In order to achieve the objective of the objective, the researcher has used an explanatory research design with a quantitative research approach in which six hypotheses have been tested. Primary data has been collected from 281 women entrepreneurs who were selected using stratified sampling technique and simple random sampling techniques were used. Both descriptive and inferential statistics have been used to analyze the data through SPS-21 version. The descriptive result of the study investigated that variables such as access to technology, access to land premise, communication skill, and tax amount have a moderate or medium value because the mean score of the variables ranges from 2.60 to 3.39 (average value). In other words, the two remaining variables, such as access to finance and lack of training, have a low mean because the mean score of the variables ranges from 1.80 to 2.59 Based on the Pearson correlation coefficient analysis the study found that, lack of training and an increase in tax amount have a negative and significant relationship with the business performance of women entrepreneurs, whereas the rest of the variables, such as access to finance, access to land premise, access to technology, and communication skills, have a positive and significant relationship with the women's business performance in Bishoftu Town. From multiple regressions analysis of the study investigated access to land was the best predictor of women's business performance, and lack of training was the least predictor of women's business performance. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher suggestive and corrective remedial action for concerned bodies that they should work on all variables incorporated more than the current status since they have a significant impact on women's business performance to improve the overall business performance of women in micro and small-scale enterprises on the one hand and encourage the economic development of Ethiopia on the other.
