dc.description.abstract Solid waste handling is a discipline associated with concerned to control the generation, storage, collection, transportation or transfer, processing, and disposal of solid waste materials in most environmentally friendly. This study is to assess the challenges, Attitude and way of handling system of solid waste among households at Lideta Sub-city. The study was employed descriptive type of research design simultaneously to achieve the aim of the study. Primary data was gathered through interviews, questionnaires and field observation. Whereas secondary data were extracted from different published and unpublished materials. A total of 387 respondents were selected by using random Sampling methods from the three districts. Both qualitative and quantitative research approaches was adopted to analyze the data by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26.7. The study result revealed that, solid waste controlling methods of municipal is effective. Out of the total respondents about (37.4%) were disagreed and about (17.7%) of respondent were agreed. Most of respondents (44.8%) were dis agreed with the statement that community had knowledge as solid waste is the causes of social trouble, while, few of (21%) respondents were agreed. Regarding to the statement of the assertion that having a container at home for the storage of solid waste was important, majority of (32.3%) respondents were strongly disagreed and few of (2%) respondents were strongly agreed. Comparably, the results of field observations indicate that, the community had lacks of infrastructure necessary to remove solid waste from its origin to the disposal site. It is observed that the lack of public awareness financial resources, institutional weakness, and improper handling system and disposal options, as a recommendation. Therefore Lideta Sub-City need proper organizational structures that can an enable to manage solid waste and to attain clean environments and community have to live-in. en_US
