dc.description.abstract This study was conducted on “School Climate and Student Academic Achievement in Selected -Secondary Schools of West Shoa Zone”Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia which aimed to investigate the impact of SCI on student achievement. The main objective of this study was to investigate school climate and student achievement in West Shoa Zone Secondary Schools. The research design combined explanatory and descriptive types. The population for this study was teachers and principals from 8 schools which account for about 142 from this population about 105 sample sizes were calculated using the Yamane formula. The respondent was selected using a` simple random sampling technique. As the source of data, the primary and secondary were collected through a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS. Based on the analysis the result obtained shows low performance on the dimensions of SCI and the findings were statistically significant for all variables. Based on the result the study concluded that for all variables the study shows that poor performance of SCI for student achievement. So based on this result it is recommended that all the school community must participate to increase student achievement.Thus, it suggested that school principals should involve teachers in decision-making, exercise leadership that is friendly and open, and being supportive while not being directive or restrictive. To enhance the academic engagement of students, school leaders and teachers must set high standards for academic performance, set an orderly and serious learning environment, and maintain definite standards of performance. en_US
