The main objective of this study is to analyze the impacts of cooperatives in improving members'
livelihoods:the case of selected agricultural multipurpose cooperative societies in Adola Rede woreda,Guji
Zone,Oromia Regional State,Ethiopia. The resecher investigate the impacts of potencial variables such as
demographic factors,economic factors,easy loan facility,and social factors.The study employed both
descriptive and exploratory research design with quantitative and qualitative research approach and also
multi-stage sampling technique was used to select a sample of 162 respondents.To achieve the
objectives,the researcher used both primary and secondary data. The collected data were analysed by
using descriptive,and inferential statistics specifically the Logistic Regression model, by using statistical
package of SPSS version 26. The results of this study showed that among indepent variables,most of the
variables have been playing a positive impacts on improving members livelihood such as age,sex,
educational level, farm land size, access to market information, income status, saving and credi access,long
term and short term loan ,and social relation were found to have positively and significantly impact on
improving members' livelihoods while, interest rate and family size were negatively and significantly
impact on members livelihood of MPAC societies in the study area.Therefore, there is a significant
relationship between multipurpose agricultural cooperative societies and improving members' livelihood
with different cooperative activities.The study further recommends that the basic areas of improving
financial capacity in order to access to financial services,improvement of socio-economic development of
members,and better market information to sell their produce were need to be considered by concerned
bodies to improve the livelihood of MPAC societies in the study area.The study also recommends that,the
government authorities and other concerned stackholders including woreda cooperative promotion office
was more appreciation for positive variables ,and provide education, and training for negative variables
to bring positive variables in the area. Lastly different levels stackholders should focus on investigating
issues that delay the growth of the cooperatives' improvement in livelihoods of members in the selected
primary cooperative of study area. It is hoped that members of the cooperative societies, policymakers, and
researcher had benefited from the study. |
