Abstract:
The objective of this study was to assess the women’s empowerment in political participation in
case of Ambo town. This study addressed the question what are challenges, how it practices and
opportunities of women empowerment in political participation in Ambo town. This research design
was mixed; the target population of this study was selected in only nine sectors in the town. Simple
random sampling and purposive was employed for this study .from 113 respondents were selected
for this study. A questionnaire and interview were employed for data collection. Data were
analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The major finding of this study was managerial not
ensure they're responsible to women’s political participation empowerment. Women’s have capable
of performing in any type of position like men, even though the position of men and women in the
office is not equal. There was discrimination during hiring and promotion to benefit women,
Women employees are not equal in numbers to men in managerial positions, and Women employees
are unable to head some activities and have not flexible working hours in the workplace for
women’s to empowerment them in politics. Gender equality understating was not a problem for the
organization, but there are an implementing gap at study area, based on finding important
recommendation was forwarded.
