dc.description.abstract Despite the crucial role that green infrastructure plays in the entire social, environmental, cultural and economic development of metropolitan areas, most cities and towns pay little attention to it when creating plans and, as a result, neglect it when putting it into practice. In order to understand the current coverage, quantity, condition, community perceptions of usage and involvement, and difficulties in the development and administration of green infrastructure in Ejere town, this research was carried out. In order to collect pertinent data from primary sources through questionnaires, interviews, and observations, the study used both qualitative and quantitative data using a descriptive survey research methodology. To choose the 204 sample households, a random sampling procedure was utilized. In addition, six important informants from four various industries were specifically chosen. The result of the study indicated that green infrastructure development was not implemented as proposed on structural plan of the town and lack of proper management. There were also low levels of awareness 166 (79.0%) about the values of green infrastructure in general, low level of community participation 112 (53.3%), lack of budget (1.04%), lack of skilled man power 15(7.14), Unplanned urbanization 11(5.2%) and lack of co-ordination among different stakeholders 38 (18.1%) towards the development and management of green infrastructure. To solve the challenges: Municipality of the town creating awareness of the communities as well as officials and leaders, improving participation of all stake holders, assigning qualified professionals from Kebele to Villages level, improving financial capacity through revenue generation and allocation of budget, establishing nursery site and integration among different stakeholders are some of the recommendations. en_US
