The purpose of this paper is to investigate to assess company production compliance with environmental obligation under Ethiopian environmental law: case-selected firms in Ambo town Odo Liben general business plc. It examines the cause and impact of the environmental problems created by such proposed as well as the necessary policy response, especially by examining the role of the applicable environmental protection mechanisms in enforcing local standards. The research Design/methodology/approach is fundamentally an empirical study with some doctrinal analysis, the empirical data (qualitative) was collected through In-depth interviews, focus group discussions, field observation and different literature related with the topic are examined. According to the results of the findings, environmental management and mitigation solutions should be considered for sustainable utilization of these resources without harming the environment and the people living in the area. The case studies were not complying with the local environmental standards, which resulted in several environmental problems. The major cause for the overall environmental problems was not a legal gap in the local standards, but the failure of enforcing such standards by the government bodies. The applicable environmental protection mechanisms also played no role in environmental protection as they do not impose environmental obligations along with enforcement mechanisms. Non-compliance with local standards can be mitigated if the applicable environmental protection mechanisms environmental obligations along with workable enforcement mechanisms as a treaty obligation have more binding force. The author argues that, in general, foreign investments are not environmentally friendly unless otherwise strictly regulated by combining local environmental standards and environmental protection mechanisms that impose environmental obligations (along with enforcement mechanisms). Violations of environmental regulation mechanisms and the protection of a clean, healthy environment mandated by the constitution resulted from ineffective observance of these legal rules. To overcome the problem, it was recommended that, in order to become more certain and to create causal link between this effluent and its impact on the communities and people leaving in the area, it requires proper segregation of waste at source generation and essential, efficient and effective in managing appropriate plans, strategies and actions should be established to ensure adequate health care waste minimization at source and encouraging the use of recyclable materials and products |
