dc.description.abstract This study deal with effects of development-induced displacement on the livelihoods of displaced people in Kimbibit Woreda Siinqee Kebele. Development-Induced Displacement was the flees of people from their livelihood, and other assets that were necessary for their well being. The main objective of the study was assessing the effects of development-induced displacement on the livelihoods of displaced people. The study was assessed the assets/capitals of displaced communities‟ exists before and after displacement. The FGDs discussants, interview participants, key informants and questionnaire respondents were selected by snowball & purposive sampling technique due to the nature of the study area. Nine (9) key informants and 79 respondents from the displaced people were selected purposively for the study. Interview, FGDs, field observation and key informant were used to gather primary data. The data collected in this study was analyzed through thematic method. The results of the study indicated that displacement affected the livelihood, assets/capitals of the people. The study finding also shows that, there was available and accessible assets/capitals before and after displacement at the study site. However, after dislocation the displaced community lost their assets/capital and exposed for food in security, loss of income sources and security issues. In addition, the research also revealed that, the displaced community economic and social/cultural-identity well-being was eroded. Further, the study also indicated that, the promise of well-being enhancement promised by the institution for the affected people failed to fulfill. Hence, the challenges were addressed through coping strategies such as livelihood diversification, migration, social safety net, etc. Finally, the study recommended different mechanism for the study area and the government should have to do its part to solve the issues of the displaced communities. en_US
