dc.description.abstract The study was conducted at Ambo District Education office regarding practices and challenges of Decision making. The purposes of this study were to investigate the real practices of decision making, to assess the challenges of decision making and to assess extent, the various decision dimensions, influence the quality of decision making in the study area. Descriptive research design and both quantitative and qualitative (mixed) research approaches employed. The target population of the study were 121 of primary and secondary school Principals, Vice principals, and 8 and 15 District education experts and Management committees. The researcher employed mixed sampling techniques including census sampling for secondary school principals, vice principals and all supervision while Elementary school’s principals and Vice principal selected through probability sampling and Management and experts of the district were selected through purposive sampling to determine the sample size of the respondents. The quantitative data which collected through questionnaires were analyzed by using statistical package for social science (SPSS) Version 26. According to the results of descriptive analysis indicated that Decision-making approach, incorrect-timing, incomplete information, decision making skills organizational structure and Accountability respectively affected the decision made in the study area. Recommendation forwarded is that Training should have to provide by senior education experts(professionals) to school principals, vice principals, CRC supervisory, Woreda Education experts and management committees en_US
