| dc.description.abstract | The objective of this study was to investigate the practices of school culture in secondary 
schools of Dendi Woreda, West Shoa Zone. The study employed descriptive survey research 
design guided by quantitative approach. Among the five secondary schools in Dendi Woreda 
two of them were the target population. Thus 6 school administrations, three from each school 
were included as a sample by purposive sampling and 41 teachers were selected by simple 
random sampling technique. Closed-ended questionnaire was employed in data collection. 
Quantitative data was analyzed by using SPSS version 20 and was analyzed in terms of 
descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings show that quality administration, teacher’s 
professional commitment, and students’ motivation as school culture, were practiced at high 
level. The researcher concluded that there was high level of school culture in quality 
administration, teachers’ professional commitment, and students’ motivation for learning 
which imply that Dendi secondary schools have good communication, a focus on set goals, 
and cohesion among staff, power equalization, innovativeness and effective utilization of 
resources as evidence of a positive school culture. Finally, the researcher recommended 
Dendi woreda education office, secondary school principals and teachers are better to sustain 
the high level practices of school culture among all secondary schools in the woreda. | en_US |
