dc.description.abstract Background: A Traditional Bone Setter is a traditional practitioner of joint manipulation, who takes up the practice of healing without having had any formal training. Despite poor outcome associated with the practice of traditional bone setting the practice is still ongoing in Ethiopia especially in South West Shoa Zone where only three hospitals provide orthopedic services. . So, this study would add to the limited data on preference of traditional bone setting and associated factors in Ethiopia in general and to the study area in particular. This study aimed: To assess the magnitude of preference of traditional bone setting and associated factors among adult traumatic patients attending Orthopedic outpatient department. Method: Hospital based cross-sectional study design was conducted among randomly selected 354 traumatic patients who attend orthopedic outpatient department of public hospitals from January 30, 2023 to March 30, 2023. Data were collected using Structured, interviewer-administered questionnaires adapted from similar study. The collected data were entered in Epi Info version 7.2 and exported to SPSS version 23.0. After those descriptive statistics like frequency distribution, mean and percentage calculation were done for most of the variables. Binary logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with the preference of traditional bone setting. To understand the strength of association between the dependent and explanatory variables, odds ratio was calculated. Those variables on bivariate analyses with a p-value < = 0.25 were a candidate for Multivariable analysis and those variables with P value of < 0.05 with 95% confidence interval was considered as statistically significant. Results: The study revealed that 97(27.9%), (95%CI: 23, 32.8) of respondents had preference of traditional bone setting for injury management. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed Site of injury (upper extremity) (AOR=2.049, 95% CI: 1.161, 3.617) and knowledge (AOR=2.372, 95%CI: 1.350, 4.166) were showed statistically significant association with preference of traditional bone setting. Conclusion: This study showed that the preference of traditional bone setting is high among trauma patients. Site of injury, and knowledge were statistically significant. Hence awareness creation and health education are recommended. en_US
