The aim of this thesis is to assess the effects strategic management practices on the Performance of
banking sector in the case Oromia Bank (OB). The strategic planning process is used by management to
establish objectives, set goals, and schedule activities for achieving those goals and includes a method for
measuring progress. Therefore, the general objective of this paper is to exanimate effect of strategic
management practices on Oromia Bank (OB). The study explored the effects of Strategy formulation,
strategy implementation and strategy control and evaluation on Oromia Bank (OB). The target population
of this study was top managers, middle managers and normal employee of Oromia Bank (OB). There are
more than thirty private banks in Ethiopia but our study will focus on Oromia banks (OB). The current
competitiveness of the banks has its origin in the strategies they adopt and apply, whereby strategic
management plays a key role. Banking performance has been conditioned on the content of banking
management in general explains the interest of researchers and practitioners to this area. In these light
effects of strategic management practices on growth of Oromia Bank (OB) is the main objective of the
study and therefore answer the questions; What is the effects of each strategic management practice on
performance of Oromia bank? A case study research design will be adopted, taking a case of Oromia Bank
(OB). Both primary and secondary data will be collected. Interview guide will used to collect data from
the Bank. A systematic sampling method will be used to select five representatives of Oromia Bank
management levels from head office and some branches in Addis Ababa city. To further decide on the
sample size from each selected Oromia Bank Position, a proportionate sampling method will be applied.
Finally, simple sampling technique will used to identify the sampled respondents. As data collection
instrument, AMCES questionnaire will be adopted after securing written approval and in consultation with
the advisor. The reliability of the tool used will be tested. The questionnaire will be administered to
selected person at selected position, who will have an involvement on the strategic management process.

Analysis will be done on the collected data using content analysis. |
