Abstract:
The study intended to investigate the perceived influence of selected educational facilities of
boarding school on student’s academic success: the case of Ambo Ifa Boru secondary
special boarding school, Oromia regional State, Ethiopia. It adopted descriptive and
correlational or explanatory research design. The researcher was used mixed research
approach, both quantitative and qualitative research method with the researcher employing
Key informant interviews, questionnaires, and observational checklist as data collection
instrument. For the quantitative section of the investigation, simple random sampling-lottery
method was used. For the qualitative part of the examination purposive sampling or the
convenience sampling was used. The quantitative study has a sample size of 131
respondents return the questionnaires. Six key informants were provided the qualitative
data. The SPSS 26 version used to analyse the quantitative data. Descriptive statistics were
utilized to assess the quantitative data. The multiple linear regressions model test was also
done to see whether there were any perceived influence library, dormitory, food and toilet
facilities on students’ academic success. Independent sample t-test was done to assess
whether there is the mean difference on academic success between male group and female
group and Pearson correlation to identify whether there was the relationship between
school food provision and academic success of student. The result of this study showed that
the school library, dormitory, food and toilet facility has the statistically significant
perceived influence on student’s academic success. Recommendation given was: school
directors, West Shewa Zone educational office, and Oromia regional education bureau
should have to paid attention to fulfill facility gap seen in the institution.
