Abstract:
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Circuit training on
cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility and
speed in the case of Ambo town athletics club athletes. An experimental research
design and a quantitative research methodology were used in this study. To achieve
the purpose of the present study 14 athletes were selected by census sampling
techniques. Training for 8 weeks 3 days per week 60 minute duration per day. The
data collected from the study subjects were analyzed by using SPSS version 27
software. The data per training to fitness variables were analyzed by paired sample t
tests to determine the difference between pre and post mean of participants. The mean
value difference of three minute step test is decreased by 2.1666 beats per minute for
females and 1.62500 beats per minutes for males respectively. The mean value
difference of muscular endurance for male is increased by -1.2500 and -1.66667 for
females respectively. The mean value difference of push up per minute increased by -
1.83333 per /minute for females and -1.75000 for male athletes respectively. The
mean value difference of sit and reach test for female athletes increased by
2.66667cm and 1.87500cm for male athletes respectively and the mean value of 60m
speed test decreased for female athletes by 1.01667m/s and .92500m/s for male
athletes. The result obtained in this study indicated that there was significant change
in cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility and
speed. Based on this finding, it can be concluded that circuit training has a positive
effect on fitness variables of the athlete. 8 week circuit training had a significant
effect on cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength,
flexibility and speed. Similar studies can be conducted with the same variables by
selecting the subject from other environmental aspects.
