dc.description.abstract Background: - Human immunodeficiency virus infected individuals have an extremely high requirement for access to potable water. The negative effects of low water supply and treatment on health are particularly affects them. Therefore, one of the cheap and efficient technologies to make water safer is home water treatment. However, in Woliso town there is no information on household water treatment practice and associated factors of people living with HIV. Objective: Assessment of household water treatment practice and associated factors among adult people living with human immunodeficiency virus in Woliso town from December 30 to November 30, 2022. Methods: A community based cross-sectional study was done among adult people living with human immunodeficiency virus from December 30 to November 30, 2022. Data was collected from 437 study participants. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the study participants. Pre-tested and structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentage and standard deviation used to describe the study population. All variables with p-value <0.25 on bivariable logistic regression analysis were entered into multivariable logistic regression model to control the potential confounders. Odds ratio at 95% CI was computed. P-value < 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Results: Small numbers of respondents 10.3 % (95% CI: 7.6-13%) had good practice of household water treatment. Educational level (AOR=7.71,95% CI:2.23-26.59), type of container for water storing (AOR=6.07,95%CI:1.91-19.25),duration of water storing time (AOR=4.19,95% CI:1.67-10.53),monthly income (AOR=6.48,95% CI:2.53-16.59),knowledge of water treatment method (AOR=2.99,95% CI:1.20-7.22), having radio (AOR=2.59,95% CI:1.09-6.21) and perception on quality of water used (AOR=4.47,95% CI:1.61-12.39) were significantly associated with water treatment practice. Conclusion: The level of household water treatment practice among people living with HIV in Woliso town is very low. Therefore, people living with HIV need attention to improve household water treatment practice. Promotion of water treatment practice and income generating activities should be created for them by different stakeholders is a fundamental to avert the problem en_US
