The main purpose of this study is to conduct factors affecting effective budget management practices: the case of Oromia Police College Senkele Training Center. The study was designed to assess methods and budget management practices in study area. In order to achieve the objective the study the researcher was adopted both quantitative and qualitative research approaches with cross-sectional research design. . Both probability and non- probability sampling techniques were used in this study. Simple random sampling technique was used to choose representatives and respondents from each department, and purposive sampling technique was used to choose informants from the college. Accordingly, from the total population of 295 employees, the questionnaires were distributed to a sample size of 170 employees, but 160 were returned back. The study employed questionnaire technique to collect data. The descriptive statistics were used for data analysis. Data was also being displayed as tables, percentages, frequency distribution tables, mean and standard deviations. Regression analysis, inferential statistics were used to determine the nature of correlations between the dependent and independent variables. The study revealed that there was a positive and significant relationship between the explanatory variables and effective management of the budget in the study area at R2 69.10%. The study therefore suggests the organization that public participation, management support, information technology and government financial regulations have to be embraced since they demonstrated a significant positive relationship on effective budget management practice |
