Abstract:
The application of dyes in different process industries will cause environmental impact. Thus, the
need for removal of dyes by using hybrid photocatalytic process under UV-Vis irradiation is a
vital issue to decrease the effect of dyes. Ni-ZnO/Polyaniline hybrid photocatalysts are
synthesized and used for the experiments of degradation of dyes from water under visible light
irradiation. XRD, UV-Vis absorption, FTIR and SEM are used to characterize the prepared
materials. It is shown that the Ni2+ amount doped into ZnO controls its morphology and enhances
its photoactivity for dye degradation. Polyaniline (PANI) is shown to sensitize ZnO and to extend
its light absorption toward the visible region. ZnO, Ni-ZnO and Ni-ZnO/PANI was used in the
photocatalytic decolorization study of a dye i.e.,bromophenol blue (BPB). During Usage of this
semiconductor as a photocatalyst for removal of dye, physiochemical characteristics of the
photocatalyst, the effect of the various process parameters like initial dye concentration, catalyst
loading, pH, catalyst types and UV irradiations time on the photodegradation of BPB were
investigated using surface Response methodology. According to analysis of variance numerical
optimization 99.87 % removal efficiency were formed through adjusting the selected parameters
(initial dye concentration, catalyst loading, pH, catalyst types and UV irradiations time) under
specified or bounded conditions. Furthermore, the rate of dye degradation (reaction) kinetics
was also studied. The result indicates from first order Languier-Hinshewood kinetics model.
