This study investigated the perception of the extent the causes of project failure on Oromia Special Zone
Surrounding Finfine education sector construction projects failure. The purpose of this research was found
out the causes of project failure on education sector construction projects failure. An initial literature review
was conduct to development theoretical framework that was used determined the extent of cause’s projects
failure in education sector construction project failure. Because of the above indicate points the study was
focused on the cause’s project failure as case study. The study design was descriptive case study. Descriptive
statistics data analysis method was applied to analyze numerical data gathered using open ended questions.
The Statistical Package for Social Sciences computer software was used for analysis to generate data array
that was used for subsequent analysis of the data. Statistical Package for Social Sciences Version 21 has got
descriptive statistics features that assist in variable response comparison and gives clear indication of
responses frequencies. The data was cleaned, coded, categorized per each of the research variables and then
analyzed using descriptive analysis. The findings was presented using tables, since tables are user friendly
and shows response frequencies as well as percentages of the respondents’ opinions on the cause projects
failures in Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfine education sector construction project. The study
identified 15 factors that account for Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne education sector
project failure. These are: Change project leadership (turnover of head of the sector), Selection of project
manager, project team formation (project committee selection), task definition, user involvement, poor
planning, monitoring problem, project management techniques, commitment to project, project fund
release, absence Labor, poorly defined project scope, inadequate risk management, failure to identify key
assumptions, project managers who lack experience and training, no use of formal methods and
strategies, lack of effective communication at all levels, key staff leaving the project and/or company,
poor management of expectations, ineffective leadership, the existence of corruption, lack of detailed
documentation, bureaucracy, poor communication, lack of continuity , political interference , culture,
belief system and fluctuation of price. The finding identified the ten most causes that influences Oromia
special zone surrounding Finfine education sector projects failure. Those are corruption, poor planning,
bureaucracy, user involvement, poor supervision, project management techniques, ineffective leadership,
delay in payment and change in project leadership. The third objective of this study was to identify the
effects of Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne education sector construction project failure on key
stakeholders associated with such projects and their relative importance. Additional, the study identified
15 possible effects of Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne education sector construction projects
failure on key stakeholders. These are: emotional stress on citizens, under development of education
sector, good governance problem, loss of quality education, citizens loss the right to learn, cost escalation,
loss of trust in education sector, bad image for the government and education sector, loss of properties,
loss of election and slows economic growth. |
