Abstract:
The main purpose of this study is for the Assessment of Wheat Producer Farmers’ Poverty Status
and Their Level of Productivity by using household level Consumption and expenditure as proxy
for poverty status with the factors of wheat production in case of Walmara district. Wheat crop is
one of the strategic commodities which generate income, improves food security for Households
and industrial inputs for modern food product. This study has used Primary data by using
structured questionnaires from Wheat producers by cross-sectional data collection method. Out
of 25 total kebeles, the study purposively selected 15 kebeles those who engaged on wheat
production. 365 Household Heads are selected by using adjusted Cochran formula procedure
and based on Stratified population size proportion. The study employed both descriptive and
inferential using statistical summary of Wheat Producers with some of the Socio-Economic
predictors like; Consumption and Expenditure of Households, Educational level of farmers,
Annual Income of farmers, Gender of farmers, Farmers Risk behavior and Farmers Wheat
production participant are predictor variables. From findings, Consumption and expenditure of
Households and Educational status of the farmers has become statistically significant at 5%
Significance level at both logits i.e. at high producer groups and at medium producer groups
w.r.t low producer groups which is selected as a baseline or reference category groups are
found by negative and positive sign log-odds values respectively. So that , For sufficient food
supply, the researcher would like to recommend concerned bodies on Promoting sustainable
Wheat production of Farmers by contributing their responsibilities to educate and motivate
wheat producers to boost their capacity of risk seeker while wheat production to survive highly
increasing population.
