The study was conducted in Fitche Town Administration, with an objective to assess the factors that
affect female’s participation in leadership positions. The stud was used descriptive and exploratory
research design to achieve the objective of the study. Survey data was collected from a total of 166
employee’s females using a structured questionnaire to study the factors. In addition, 11 female who
have management experience were purposively selected to investigate the gap between the desired
and current level of need based motivation support provided by the institutions to attract female into
leadership. Data used in this study was mainly primary and secondary data as well, quantitative and
qualitative types was incorporated. The data was collected by interviewing and conducting
questionnaires. The collected data were analysed using a computer statistical package for social
sciences (SPSS Version 23). The findings revealed that female are highly underrepresented in
leadership position due to some factors such factors are organizational and individual factors which
are major cause. Due to these factors female participation in leadership and decision making
position was insignificants and get less confidence for the position. Male dominance, lack of
delegation and recommendations were other minor cause factor that affects female participation in
leadership position. In order to minimize those factors the town administration needs to implement
leadership skill training and affirmative action to increase participation of female in leadership
position and creating awareness to the society that female capable for leadership position. |
