The issue of employee satisfaction has been momentous in recent times to the development and
accomplishment of organizations’ goals and objectives. This research study aims at investigating
the factors that affect employee satisfaction at cooperatives unions found in West Shoa zone.
Specifically, the study seeks to investigate the influence of career progress on employee job
satisfaction, to examine the effect of working conditions, co-workers, supervisor and pay and
benefits on employee jobs satisfaction. Regarding the design of the study, the study adopted
descriptive research and Explanatory Research design. A sample size of 114 total employees was
taken for the research study, representing 100% of an entire population of 114 employees
working in cooperatives union. The Data were collected through semi-structured questionnaire
and interview. Based on collected information’s from the respondents, the data were analyzed
through descriptive and inferential statistics (regressions), using Statistical Program for Social
Sciences (SPSS) V 21). The findings of thestudy indicated that demographic socio-economic
variables have positive correlation ships withjob satisfaction of employees. In addition the job
satisfaction indicators significantly correlatedwith job satisfaction of employees. The overall test
showed career progress, goodpay and benefit, work condition and environment, relationship
with coworkers, good supervisor/leader statistically significant predictors of employees‟ job
satisfaction. Further the result ofmultiple linear regression revealed that pay and benefit, work
condition, environment, goodrelationship with co-workers, good supervisor are statistically
significant except career progress.The study indicated that the respondents are not fully satisfied
with their nature of job. In orderto enhance the cooperatives unions should look further in the
nature of the job that may affectemployees‟ attitude and pave the way to make positive changes
and improve employee attitudefor a higher job satisfaction. |
